Ethnic Networking of Immigrant Women Entrepreneurs: The Role of Specialized Incubators - 2024.

2

At the heart of the Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem, immigrant women emerge as dynamic forces, bringing energy and diversity. However, they continue to face significant challenges, such as the persistence of stereotypes and biases, particularly regarding their tendency to primarily engage in ethnic networking, often considered inadequate and limiting. Drawing on the experiences of 14 immigrant women entrepreneurs in Montreal, this article demonstrates how ethnic networking provides essential professional and emotional support to immigrant women entrepreneurs. This type of networking is not merely a tool for entrepreneurial activity but also a source of identification and professional representation. In this context, incubators dedicated to supporting the entrepreneurial journey of diverse female communities contribute to the growth of ethnic networks while serving as intermediaries for their integration into larger communities.
