Concerning hatred in babies. The perinatal and infantile roots of violence
Golse, Bernard
Concerning hatred in babies. The perinatal and infantile roots of violence - 2021.
97
The author begins by reminding us of the difference between violence, aggressiveness and hatred from the metapsychological point of view, and then goes on to situate aggressiveness in the course of development by differentiating between existential aggressiveness, aggressiveness aimed at verifying the object’s survival in D.W. Winnicott’s sense, and, finally, oedipal aggressiveness. Various problematic issues are then considered in order to evoke the dialectic that always exists between self-hatred and hatred of the other (R. Spitz’s anaclitic depressions and hospitalism, A. Green’s complex of the dead mother). Finally, the question of the perinatal and infantile roots of later violence, particularly in adolescents, is discussed.
