A few remarks on “psychoanalytic formation”
Farrow, Benjamin
A few remarks on “psychoanalytic formation” - 2020.
39
The relatively recent introduction of the term “psychoanalytic formation” into the English psychoanalytic vocabulary breaks with the use of the classic term “training” and required that a new sense be added to a word that already existed in the English language. This text questions the possible advantages of substituting 'formation' for 'training' in the English language in light of etymological considerations and in view of certain crucial issues raised by Lacan regarding this “formation” of the psychoanalyst. (Author’s own translation).
