Policies and practices concerned with environment and with the place of human beings in the city are being developed simultaneously. A thorough examination of the role of the inhabitants in the construction of their urban environment must be made in order to improve the procedures concerning their participation, consultation and information. These analyses supplement those developed today on regions and urban territories. Our interdisciplinary studies (in social and natural sciences) also focus on the place of the inhabitant (animal, vegetal or human) in the city.
