Scores of festivals in Brittany, originally conceived as actions in favor of heritage in an effort to promote a much-depreciated past, have evolved and developed to an extent that their founders could not have imagined in their wildest dreams. These remnants of the past often serve as a pretext to stage a plural Brittany. In this paper we look at various festivals whose common denominators or distinctive features show contemporary social dynamics at play.
