The precursor to this book, Sara Friedrichsmeyer, Sara Lennox, and Susanne Zantop's now classic volume The Imperialist Imagination: German Colonialism and Its Legacy, initiated an explosion of research on all aspects of relations between Germany and the rest of the world.
