This paper points out how, in his last seminars, Lacan expressed his dissatisfaction with his psychoanalytical practice. The author tries to shed light on the deep links between Lacan’s theoretical formulas (the Borromean knots) by which he tries to reach the boundaries of thinking itself, and psychoanalytic practice. As the real resists entrapment by any kind of imaginary or symbolic system, psychoanalytic practice gives it an echo by pointing out some sort of madness that is man’s special attribute.
