Françoise Dolto initiated open consultations for children, originally at the Trousseau hospital in Paris. Amazed by what she had discovered concerning the effects of the unconscious, she wanted to share her discoveries with others. In the same spirit, Catherine Vanier created the Enfance en jeu association, which gave a number of analysts the opportunity to attend to children and their family—free of charge—in the presence of young analysts in training.
