Economic Geography and the Challenge of Globalization - 2008.
40
Finance and globalization are deeply transforming economic geography. After showing how spatial and structural hyper-mobilities fit in poorly with scientific time, we re-interpret old paradigms in the light of recent upheavals, describing in particular new ways of researching the world of work. Second, we show that far from being confined to low added value production, new Asian productive spaces are developing new technologies in the hope of competing with industrialized countries. Finally, focusing on new north-south relations, we show that the arrival of spaces of social underdevelopment are diffused throughout both north and south.
