As an individual engaged in political ecology, Claire Nouvian is the president of Bloom, an NGO that she founded in 2005 to raise public awareness about the need to protect the marine environment. Her campaign against deep-water trawling in EU waters—won in 2016—was enough to have her confirmed as one of the six winners (one per continent) of the 2018 Goldman Environmental Prize, one of the highest international honors for environmental protection.
