Our study on the expressive potential of video games addresses a range of topical issues in both fundamental and “applied” research. This article offers material for reflection in both of these directions, by describing approaches for the development of a framework for analysing video games as a means of expression. We show how theoretical explorations in these directions can stem from design issues, taking the example of the Keys of a gamespace (KOAG) project, a game developed for PCs on an initiative from the author of this article.
