In the field of robotics and automated systems applied to defence and security, innovation opens up extremely interesting—but sometimes worrying—opportunities. If the technological gap aimed at giving a robot real autonomy in decision-making is bridged in the future, it does however appear that reflection on this subject—which is already taking place within armies as well as among the main manufacturers—would greatly restrict its scope.
