Stage left: an institution, the Ballet of the Paris Opera, with its history, repertoire, know-how, and hierarchical organisation. Stage right: an activity, dance, which needs no words and can only be expressed in action. The management of dance at the Paris Opera lies between these two pillars: supporting projects which only exist in the form of thoughts using ballet as a vehicle; and breathing new life into classical music by allowing the most modern creators to express themselves. Brigitte Lefèvre considers it above all to be a question of meetings, intuition, and empathy.
