The author’s hypothesis is that, whatever his/her laterality, the analysand projects split images of his/her archaic mother into the right and left hemi-spaces: an idealized image of an unattainable mother in the right hemi-space and a persecuting image in the left hemi-space. The hypothesis is supported by a careful analysis of dreams, especially in their spatial and transferential elements.
