The therapeutic sewing workshop, FILAO, is a hybrid space of care and socialization, intended for patients attending the psycho-traumatic consultations in Avicenne hospital. Inspired by anti-psychiatry and institutional psychotherapy, one of the therapeutic goals is the reactivation of the ability to think and act when it is hampered by morbid immobility specific to trauma. The aim is to analyse how doing things together and can favour the reinstatement of a symbolic order that is not accessible to the suffering of patients who have sustained trauma. We took part and led the workshop for several months, analysing cultural exchanges and the circulation of speech, as well as bodily movement and creation, openness towards the outside world, and the possibility of transmission of practices and know-how in a symbolizing and narcissistic dynamic for the patients.
