The article proposes a re-reading of texts and interviews which Claude Duchet dedicated to the sociocritical and genetic studies of novels, particularly Flaubert’s, and of reflections he pursued on the possible relations between sociocriticism and the genetics of texts. The article studies the history of this encounter, between Claude Duchet’s sociocriticism and genetics, and sheds light on the fecundity of the questions the sociocritic puts to the genetics of texts.
