The aim of this paper is to study how were received Lucien Sève’s works about psychology of personality in the GDR in the beginning of the 1970s. First it describes the context allowing explaining why his theses were there rather welcomed. It then discusses the debates surrounding the definition of the concept of personality. Finally it presents the discussions on the parallelism between economical concepts and psychological ones in Marxisme et théorie de la personnalité.
