Sociolinguistics and Discourse Analysis: Ways of Saying, Ways of Doing - 2005.
23
This paper proposes to compare discourse analysis with Sociolinguistics, two disciplines that appeared in the 1960s and whose theories frequently overlap in the study of language activity. By examining the ways researchers operate, the authors bring to light both the factors that make the theories unique and the elements they share. They also show how the two disciplines are presently part of a common intellectual horizon, characterized in part by an interest in the medium, the computerized treatment of corpora, verbal interactions and interdisciplinarity.
