Every year since 1990 the National Consultative Commission for Human Rights (CNCDH) has commissioned a survey measuring the level of racism in France, which makes it possible to establish a Longitudinal Index of Tolerance towards minorities (LIT). The term “minority”, which has no official recognition in France, is used here pragmatically. The LIT makes it possible to capture the perceptions of minorities in France, their evolution over time and the factors that explain them.
