SMEs are known to be more financially fragile and more exposed to the risks of international development. A qualitative study carried out with two bank managers responsible for a portfolio of 300 SMEs, however, highlights that the cross-border context seems to reduce the risk assessed by the bank. It also reveals that this is not the first step in a broader cycle of internationalization of SMEs.
