This article analyzes the contribution of women ex-combatants of the FARC to the peace negotiations that led to the agreement signed in 2016 between the Marxist guerrilla group and the Colombian government. More specifically, it shows how the establishment of a gender sub-commission at the negotiating table enabled the representatives of the FARC delegation to build a strategic identity, allowing them to use their experience of armed struggle for a feminist commitment. Through the formulation of “insurgent feminism”, the women ex-combatants of the FARC negotiated their repositioning on the Colombian post-conflict political scene both as women and as ex-combatants, setting a precedent in the history of women’s participation in peace negotiations.
