“Psychosocial Risks”: An Efficient Concept for Transforming Work Organization? - 2010.

In France, the concept of “psychosocial risks” is often used to speak about mental health at work. It can be explained by the history of the prevention context when only individual factors of stress were put forward. This concept has been developed to emphasize the role of organizational factors at the source of health problems at work. Indeed, the concept of “risk” raises lots of questions because of the underlying assumptions about health at work which are linked to it. Yet, it seems possible to engage the actors of the firms and open the way to a wide approach of the issues of mental health at work and so to change the work organization provided some conditions of using this expression are respected.
