On the occasion of the upcoming publication of Surnaturel. Le désir naturel de Dieu, from the « Cahiers de la NRT » collection, this article describes the publication process of a first article by Father de Lubac, “Some remarks on the history of the word Supernatural”, which appeared in Nouvelle revue théologique in 1934. The various theological and ecclesiastical censures which the Jesuit from Lyon withstood in a close dialogue with the director of the review show that the difficulties which would arise at the time of the publication of Surnaturel in 1946 were already largely in the making twelve years earlier.
