In 1934, Henri de Lubac published an article with the innocuous title “Remarques sur l’histoire du mot ‘supernaturel’” in the Nouvelle revue théologique. Yet it challenged the theological options of modern Christian anthropology. This programmatic article is introduced historically by Bernard Joassart from the NRT archives, and illuminated theologically and pastorally by Marie-Gabrielle Lemaire. It is completed by translations of foreign texts. Finally, the essential study by Hans Urs von Balthasar, published in 1975 in the NRT: “Henri de Lubac. l’oeuvre organique d’une vie” (Henri de Lubac: the organic work of a life), a true introduction to the study of his colleague and friend. The preface is by Brigitte Cholvy.
