When technique becomes political strategy. Analysis of La France Insoumise’s activism organization platforms in 2017 and 2022 - 2023.

The platforms are central to the organization of the France insoumise campaign during the presidential elections of 2017 and 2022, in particular to massively recruit volunteers by “opening up” and “lightening” militancy. What is the relationship to campaign engagement drawn or designed in these LFI platforms? This article questions the effects of the technical framework on the forms and modalities of partisan activism and questions, at the same time, the evolution of partisan organizations. Our investigation is based on interviews with activists and members of the LFI campaign team in 2017 and 2022, as well as an analysis of the content and design of the platforms. The analysis shows that the technical framework of the platforms confines volunteers to action and locks them into the role of performers. The technique becomes a political strategy to avoid giving rise to opposition and contributes to nourishing the indigenous concept of the “gaseous form”.
