The Russian aggression of February 2022 overturned the vision that Germany had created of its place in Europe and relationship to the world since 1989. A long tradition of relations with Moscow collapsed. The end of an era means everything must be reexamined: national and European defense measures, energy provision, and relationships with other partners such as China etc., all while reaffirming the necessity of a geopolitical Europe and the central nature of the North Atlantic Alliance.
