This article analyzes the different forms of social support that are exchanged within French trans Facebook groups. It proposes to think otherwise the dynamics of online support—by questioning both what they produce and what they allow—through the notion of trans ethics of care. Based on a situated standpoint, this study is grounded on an online ethnography of the main French trans Facebook groups conducted between September 2017 and September 2020. The results presented are divided into two sections: the first one focuses on informational support, through the creation of a directory of trusted caregivers, the second one analyzes the distribution of emotional support following negative events.
