This article takes the seminary as an object from a social history of disciplines perspective. It is based on an important seminar of the French economic science in a context of autonomization of the discipline vis-a-vis the law in universities. It shows that the seminar is then an academic tool for a career. However, the importance of this seminar is not limited to this dimension. It is based on a research program that will serve as a basis for the critical economy of the following decades. Its organization as well as the participants and their trajectories contribute to the success of this collective enterprise which is a transition from a research organization to the laboratory.
