The “suburban juvenile delinquent” has become a major theme in the media. Two characteristics are frequently associated with this figure: his opposition to the educational institution and his inability to disengage from his milieu. Taking a trajectory perspective, it also considers how delinquents give up on their “career” at some point and examines the factors that foster this likely giving up.
