The coming city: Rediscovering the common space
Hénaff, Marcel
The coming city: Rediscovering the common space - 2019.

In homage to Marcel Hénaff (1942-2018), our deceased friend and colleague, the Revue du Mauss publishes an extract from his book La ville qui vient (2018) in this issue on the convivial city. In this passage, the author underlines how much the quality of a city lies in the specificity and singularity of its public spaces. Ensuring a real public quality to the contemporary city is a major challenge because The Coming City is an archipelago city made up of networks, to the point of raising the question of the possible disappearance of monumentality and even of the traditional urban form.
