There are many Chinese communities present in the South Pacific Islands, whose wide-ranging activities include trade and services. Beijing is making efforts to maintain ties, using dedicated policies in the fields of economics, politics and security. Nevertheless, some Chinese initiatives are not well received by the Island countries because of Beijing’s somewhat over-intrusive attitude.
