This article shows that men and women react differently with regard to the increasing porosity of boundaries between the private and professional spheres. The authors focus on the gender differences that they have observed in personal activities carried out at work via ICT. Surprisingly, they have found that more men than women are concerned, proportionately-speaking. Whereas for women, attending to personal matters at work is often a response to a need for immediate reactivity, to deal with unexpected family situations, men tend to be under less pressure time-wise and therefore engage in these activities at times that they themselves have chosen.
