The article examines the criticisms and contributions of the Orthodox “Addendum” to the Faith and Order Commission’s working document Moral Discernment in the Churches. The Orthodox representatives stress the importance of theological and doctrinal reflection for moral discernment in the churches and express their reservations regarding the general method of the document, which they find relativistic. Despite these criticisms, the Addendum recognises the WCC’s efforts to foster ecumenical dialogue. In conclusion, the article highlights the challenges and opportunities of interfaith dialogue in a contemporary context, underlining the importance of a respectful and inclusive approach to overcoming theological differences.
