Relationships are still recognised as an essential dimension of life, both in terms of relationships with others and relationships between the different aspects of life (“everything is linked”). This consensus has led to a kind of trivialisation of the relational dimension of life, which is often reduced to an instrumental relationship in the service of an end. This article seeks to recover the existential and non-instrumental dimension of relationships, which will be highlighted through a relational conception of the economy, a consideration of the biblical account of a liberating struggle, and an examination of the thought of three authors who revisit and complexify the notion of space (Augustin Berque), the link between “I” and “thou” (Martin Buber), and the idea of resonance (Hartmut Rosa).
