This article aims to present social data reports as an analytical tool of the local public employment and payroll management. It links both issues on the basis of the example of municipalities and cooperation structures in the Loire-Atlantique department between 2009 and 2015. According to these social reports, it is possible to draw a more detailed view on how local public employment and the related payroll is structured in function of the size of the municipality or the cooperation structure.This shows that, depending on the size of the local government analyzed, differences exist between possible rooms for manoeuvre in the management of employment and payroll.
