The automation of administrative decision making affects both informational self-determination of individuals and relationship between the individuals and the public administration. In Italy, the latest normative and jurisprudential developments lead broader accessibility to the factual (in the form of data) and the legal (in the form of algorithms and source codes) elements underlying automated administrative decisions. This lays the groundwork for a widespread audit of public algorithmic systems, but is far from making it intelligible to the citizens.
