 — The author proposes to discuss Bernard Brusset’s paper and in particular his setting up of a third topic on the basis of the two following arguments: 1 / from an epistemological point of view, the two Freudian topics are fully backed up by works dating from 1913 to 1920 that furthermore offer metapsychological insights of use to contemporary clinical work; 2 / simply focussing on the within/without problematic and subjectivisation entails the risk of neglecting the inherent interest of the fact that there are multiple components of the ego. A hypothesis is put forward, according to which subjectivity is a product of the ego.
