Christophe Dejours speaks of his conception of health given histraining both as a psychoanalyst and as social scientist doing research in thefield of work. Once the ideal character of health is evoked and its relationshipto normality shown, he describes it as stretched between two poles. One is thatof psychosomatics which intervenes in individual, family, biological andpsychical determinisms, and the other is work whose role is determined in thesocial causes of health. He develops the idea that the question ofpsychosomatics falls more within the realm of the struggle for health than thatof the causes of illness.
