Based on the paper `Appetite and emotional disorder', the author considers the importance Winnicott accorded to the processual dynamics of psychic development and the clinical continuity of appetite disorders in the different stages of life. In Winnicott's theorisation of primary affective development, the breastfeeding situation emerges as the vector of the subject's narcissistic and identity-related construction. The author sheds light on the premisses of Winnicott's theoretical propositions, emphasising the importance of spontaneity in psychic development in connection with greed and aggression, as well as the work of integrating the self and somato-psychic binding, which allow internal and external spaces to develop and the internal world to be enriched.
