The author puts forward a theory of the maternal substantive as an energic matrix for the ego. This energic matrix enables the positive hallucinatory fullness and the negative hallucinatory fullness to be interwoven to form a dynamic container. It is from this sensation of the ??blank plenitude?? of the internal world that the impossible hope of a hallucinatory rediscovery of the lost object of satisfaction will emerge, transformed into an objectalising force extended towards the unknown.
