In this paper, we will study the question of cinematographic quality by analyzing the conditions of the exploitation of “Research and Discovery” labeled movies, functioning in the types of markets where they are proposed. After these films’ profiles are described, we examine the courses they take within two different configurations of the exploitation market. First, an ideal-type competitive market in Paris and secondly, a subsidized market in Seine-Saint-Denis relying on the data provided by over 80 movies.
