The reports of the congress call upon certain metapsychological elaborations personal to their authors. This creativity testifies to the vitality of metapsychology when it echoes the psyche of the psychoanalyst and his or her patient, with its impulses and its renunciations. Freud regularly testifies to this fact. My commentary will focus on two points: the use of philosophy in metapsychology and the regulation of the establishment of latency by the collective; at these two points meet theory and its necessary incarnation.
