The author analyses the different levels of consultation requests for children showing signs of precocity in order to highlight the deep entanglement between the psychopathological organization of the young patient, his cognitive functioning and parental phantasies. The analysis of psychic dynamics and the defensive scope of the intellect in children will make it possible to understand how the counter-phobic use of mental activity can elicit manic-type defences aimed at denying lack and dependence on the object. Taking into account the intolerance of frustration and the need for mastery through the intellect will help us to understand how this subjective trajectory allows the child to create a form of self-containment by trying to deny dependency and the needs which are inherent to infantile life.
