Is risk a consequence of the elimination of subjectivity from the modern conception of technology based on scientific dogmatism? In the clinical study of work, psychodynamic analysis has characterized our intentional relationship to danger in terms of collective defense strategies analogous to risk-taking behavior. The clinical case presented here aims to reassess the perception of risk according to the structure of the task. It illustrates how the combination of these strategies with virile courage has the effect of a desensitization that masks the origin of action and restricts the scope of reflection on the consequences of the act for others.
