In the ex-USSR and other regions of the world, we can observe since the end of the Cold War a widespread decline and the return to primitive or old ways of life typical of a phenomenon of “demodernization”. Progressive measures and modernization were favored by the East-West competition and the economic prosperity, but the neoliberal order’s primacy calls into question social gains and the right to modernize for some nations, which highlights the reversible aspect of modernity.
