B.R. Ambedkar constitutes a singular test case in Indian letters, in themselves invaluable for their capacity to diffract and denaturalize the idea of “literature.” Usually studied from the angle of social sciences, as leader of the Untouchables and key figure of the history of Independence, he will be assessed here in the perspective of poetics: as originator of the Dalit voice, his intervention generates alternative views of the discursive history of the sub-continent, which also disarticulate the European separation between social sciences and the Humanities.
