Community care and practices in a network for psychotic users: the case of “Open dialogue” in the context of a day centre in Athens - 2019.

The model and practice of “open dialogue” emerged in Finland to provide care within the community for patients presenting severe psychotic disorders. It is a dialogical space of networking inspired by the systemic model of family therapy which involves the users, the family, the support network and mental healthcare professionals. In this article, I present the introduction of this model in the context of the “Franco Basaglia” Day Centre of the ngo epapsy in Athens, and the resistances, obstacles and motivation of the team in creating a network psychic space faced with an extremely difficult clinical situation of shared madness. The open questions emerging from the negotiation between primary and secondary processes and the processes of binding/unbinding highlight the need for a psychoanalytic theorisation in the application of this innovating network practice.
