Pubertal fantasies and transference in a group psychodrama

Pubertal fantasies and transference in a group psychodrama - 2021.

With the onset of puberty, the psychic work of adolescence involves making the transition from infantile sexuality to adult genital sexuality, requiring a reconfiguration of fantasies. These pubertal transformations free up a great deal of instinctual drive excitation, weakens the capacities for symbolization and thereby contributes to the emergence of psychic disorders requiring therapeutic treatment. Based on three sessions taken from a group psychodrama setting, we argue that this form of psychotherapy, through the combined action of the group situation and psychodramatic role play, allows for the binding of instinctual drive excitation and the reorganization of fantasies reactualized in the transference onto the group and onto the pair of therapists.
