The path of Mr. Everybody is that of physical violence, carried out himself or suffered at the hands of others; a violence inherited from his father and mixed up in history. However, it is also violence against speech: forced silence, knowledge denied, and orders imposed. Little space exists for Mr. Everybody’s words and he is unable to make himself heard or to assert himself as a subject.
