During the period of dictatorship in Spain, there was a severe lack of dramatic arts education, since censorship prohibited the teaching of acting and stage directing after the methods that had been developed in the United States and the rest of Europe and Ibero-American countries after the Second World War. With the transition to democracy and the cultural revival that followed, these methods very quickly penetrated into the country for the training of new generations of actors and directors. The paper proposes a brief survey of this specific aspect of Spanish Cinema, and of the ways in which directors and actors have worked over the last twenty years.
